What are Prairie Meadows hours of operation?
Prairie Meadows Casino and Hotel are open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Our racetrack is open between April and October during the racing seasons.
Does Prairie Meadows have an admission fee?
Admission is free to the Prairie Meadows Casino, Hotel and all of our live horse racing events with both indoor and outdoor seating.
Is there a charge for parking?
Parking is free and plentiful. Parking includes many handicap spaces and valet parking. Super Hero parking is also available for active and reserved duty military, veterans, EMS personnel, law enforcement and firefighters. For your convenience, a shuttle is accessible from the parking lot that will take you to the main entrance. Tesla and universal electric vehicle charging stations are also available free of charge.
Can I bring my child to Prairie Meadows?
Children under 18 are welcome if accompanied by an adult. However, no one under the age of 21 is allowed to access the casino floor, located on Level 2. Children can dine with an adult in any of our restaurants, however our Champions Restaurant, located on level 4, has some restrictions – children under 18 are only allowed in the restaurant one hour prior to racing and one hour after racing.
When does live horse racing season begin?
Live horse racing kicks off mid-April with the start of the Thoroughbred season. We host Quarter Horse racing August through October.
What days do the horses race?
You can find our racing calendar here for race days, post times, and special racing events occurring throughout the season at Prairie Meadows. Typically, Thoroughbreds race Thursday – Sunday and Quarter Horses race Friday – Sunday.
Are chairs, umbrellas, and/or coolers allowed at the races or events?
Prairie Meadows allows chairs during special events, but coolers and umbrellas are not permitted at any time. Chairs are subject to search before being granted admittance. We also offer coat check services near the main casino entrance where guests can check their umbrellas, coats, and hats. These services are available Sunday – Thursday from 8am – Midnight and Friday – Saturday from 8am – 2am.
Are tables available for reservation during live racing events?
Guests can reserve tables at Champions Restaurant for live racing events by calling 515.967.8575. Specific tables or areas can be requested, but all reservations are based on availability. Walk-in seating is also available, but not guaranteed. All reservations and seating areas are free of charge.
What is the Prairie Meadows Camera Policy?
Cameras are allowed for leisure use in outdoor venues only. Camera bags will need to be made available for search by security personnel. Pictures acquired in outdoor venues may not be sold, duplicated, or distributed.
What is the smoking policy at Prairie Meadows?
Prairie Meadows offers smoking and non-smoking gaming areas for both slots and table games. Our dining establishments, Prairie Meadows Racetrack, Finish Line Show Lounge, Track Apron and the Prairie Meadows Events Center are smoke-free facilities.
Does Prairie Meadows offer a rewards program?

Does Prairie Meadows offer check cashing services?
Guests can cash a personal check at any cashier window, at no charge. In order to cash a check, guests need to present a valid photo ID, create an account with Global Payments, and agree to a credit check.
