Prairie Meadows To Host Celebration Honoring Veterans
“Saluting Our Veterans” Event November 11
November 4, 2025– Altoona, IA. Prairie Meadows will host their annual Veterans Day Celebration, “Saluting Our Veterans” to honor veterans for their service on November 11 at 11am in the Finish Line Show Lounge at Prairie Meadows. Veterans and the general public ages 21+ are invited to a celebration ceremony and free lunch, while supplies last.

We salute these heroes, and our cherished guests, who have proudly served, and we thank them and their families for their sacrifices,” said Gary Palmer, President & CEO of Prairie Meadows.
The formal program will begin at 11am with presentation of colors by Polk County Sheriff’s Office Color Guard, the National Anthem performed by Sharane Calister, Winner of Battle of the Voices in February 2025, and Pledge of Allegiance by the American Legion. The celebration will feature remarks from distinguished speakers, including Prairie Meadows President & CEO Gary Palmer; Polk County Supervisors Matt McCoy (District 1) and Jill Altringer (District 2); retired U.S. Marine Corps Major Sean Quinlan; Iowa State Representative Brian Lohse; Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate; and Altoona Mayor Dean O’Connor. Guests will enjoy patriotic music, remarks from local and state officials, and free lunch for all attendees, while supplies last.
