Prairie Meadows Board Approves $13.5 Million in Charitable Giving Grants

Altoona, IA. July 18, 2025 – Prairie Meadows Board of Directors approved $13.5 million in grants to nonprofits aligned with its mission to support arts and culture, education, economic development, and human services. Prairie Meadows grant programs work to strengthen and expand opportunities, infrastructure, and services offered within the community. Below are the three grant programs offered and the amount awarded:

• Prairie Meadows Legacy Grant program awarded 24 grants totaling $6.5 million.

• Prairie Meadows Community Betterment Grants were awarded to 335 grants totaling $6 million.

• Prairie Meadows Youth Sports and Recreational Grant program awarded 47 grants totaling $1 million.

Since 1996, it has provided more than $2.3 billion to the state in charitable giving and taxes.

Prairie Meadows and the Polk County Board of Supervisors representatives will co-host a joint Community Impact Luncheon on Friday, September 12 at 11:30am at Prairie Meadows in The Meadows Events Center. The luncheon will celebrate the organizations who have received grant funding from Polk County and Prairie Meadows.
