Prairie Meadows and Polk County Board of Supervisors Charitable Giving Partnership Award Grants – 2025 Community Impact Luncheon

(Tuesday, September 16, 2025 – Altoona, IA.) Prairie Meadows and the Polk County Board of Supervisors co-hosted the 2025 Community Impact Luncheon Friday, September 12, 2025 at Prairie Meadows in The Meadows Events Center. The luncheon recognized the public-private partnership that Prairie Meadows and Polk County have had since 1989 and celebrated the organizations who received 2025 grant funding from Polk County and Prairie Meadows.

Prairie Meadows and the Polk County Board of Supervisors developed a public-private partnership over three decades ago to ensure revenue from Prairie Meadows lessens the burden of government. Through taxes and charitable contributions, Prairie Meadows and Polk County have helped transform the lives of thousands of Iowans through this partnership. Since 1996, this partnership has provided more than $2.3 billion to strengthen communities across the state.

“To date, our contributions have surpassed $2.3 billion in charitable giving and taxes, investments that are making a lasting impact on local infrastructure, services, and the well-being of Iowans,” said Gary Palmer, President and CEO of Prairie Meadows. “We value our partnership with Polk County and remain deeply committed to advancing meaningful projects and initiatives for Iowa communities. Together, with our public-private partners, we continue to strengthen Iowa’s future.”

“Our unique partnership with Prairie Meadows supports Polk County’s direct investment in human services, educational initiatives in public schools, and quality of life projects throughout Polk County,” said Polk County Board Chair Matt McCoy.

In 2025, Polk County and Prairie Meadows have awarded over $18 million in grant funding to deserving organizations to improve lives of Iowans and create stronger communities. Visit Prairie Meadows’ grant program here and Polk County’s grant program here to learn more.
