Prairie Meadows announces $5M awarded through Legacy Grant Program

Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino announced that it has awarded $5 million from its Legacy Grant program to nonprofit organizations throughout Central Iowa. The grants to 21 organizations are part of Prairie Meadows’ commitment of $38.1 million in charitable donations to the community this year — an amount officials say is a record for the organization. According to a news release, Prairie Meadows, as a nonprofit, strives to promote economic development, jobs, agriculture and tourism in Iowa. “As a nonprofit organization, Prairie Meadows fulfills its mission by giving back to organizations that support arts and culture, education, economic development, and human services,” said Julie Stewart, Prairie Meadows’ vice president of community relations. Gary Palmer, Prairie Meadows’ president and CEO, said the organization believes in “the power of giving back.” “To truly have the most impact within Central Iowa, Prairie Meadows sees our role as vital to extending our charitable giving power to those who need it most,” he said.
