Prairie Meadows began operations as a nonprofit organization in 1989 with the goal of lessening the burden of government by promoting economic development, jobs, agriculture, and tourism.

As a nonprofit organization, Prairie Meadows fulfills its mission by giving back to organizations that support arts and culture, education, economic development, and human services. Through taxes, grants, and charitable donations, Prairie Meadows has given $1.8 billion to the state of Iowa, with $804 million staying right here in Polk County.

Outstanding entertainment offerings have made Prairie Meadows the No. 1 entertainment destination in Iowa. Prairie Meadows offers nonstop casino action, live and simulcast horse racing, big-name entertainment, local and regional musical acts, and full-service dining amenities. Additionally, Prairie Meadows Hotel provides our guests with a convenient, comfortable place to stay, and our facilities are also ideal for hosting large community events, weddings, business meetings, trade shows, and celebrations with friends and family.

Prairie Meadows employs nearly 1,300 people with an additional 200 seasonal positions during the spring and summer months.
