How to Place Your Wager
You have decided on a particular horse and you know that you want to bet that horse to win. The following is the information that you need to state when you visit the teller window, speak with a roaming teller, or are using one of our self-betting machines:- Name of the track where the race is being held
- The number of the race
- Amount you are wanting to wager
- Type of wager
- Program number of the horse
Example: "Prairie Meadows, fifth race, two dollars to win, on number three."
Now you have made it through the process of wagering, and are feeling a little more courageous and want to place an exotic wager try these.
Exacta
Let's say, for example, that you really like the #6 and #8 horses and think they will finish in the top two places and are confident that the #6 will Win and the #8 will come in second. You would place and Exacta wager.Example of what to say at the window: "Prairie Meadows, 5th race, $2 Exacta, 6, 8" This wager will cost you $2.
For you to win, the #6 horse must finish first and the #8 horse must finish second.
Exacta Box
Maybe you're not so confident about which is the better horse, but you think that the #6 and #8 will finish in the top two. You could place an Exacta Box wager. You win this wager whichever horse finishes first, as long as the #6 or the #8 horse are the top two finishers.Example of what to say at the window: "Prairie Meadows, 5th race, $2 Exacta Box, 6 and 8" This wager will cost you $4 because you are betting on two different outcomes.
