Lisa Moody-Tunks, Community Grant Administrator for the Polk County Board of Supervisors, joined the Prairie Meadows Board in December 2013.  She has been employed with Polk County for the past 17 years.  Lisa has had a unique career path and has gained experience in many areas of county government. 

Lisa began her career at the Polk County Youth Detention Center where communication skills and conflict management were essential.  Lisa was promoted as a Social Worker where she assisted single parent households with their barriers to become self-sufficient. She worked as a Victim Liaison assisting the County Attorney with interviews and fact finding for domestic abuse cases.  She was then promoted to a Juvenile Court Specialist where she assisted the County Attorney and the Department of Human Services with the preparation of Children In Need of Assistance Petitions (CINA cases).  

Following five years in the County Attorney’s Office, Lisa was elected as President of AFSCME Local 1868 to represent Polk County and City of Ankeny employees, to negotiate contracts and provide leadership for better working conditions. Lisa was appointed as a Second Deputy to the Polk County Recorder’s Office and from there accepted the position as a Community Grant Administrator with the Polk County Board of Supervisors.

Lisa earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Grand View University and a Master of Public Administration from Drake University.  She also completed the Certified Public Manager Program from Drake University.

Lisa is married to husband Allan with three children Willie, Patrick and Sean. She is a lifelong resident of Polk County. Lisa and her family attend Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
