- Roulette is played on a table consisting of two parts; a wheel and a layout (the table).
- The wheel is divided around it’s perimeter into 38 Randomly numbered compartments; 1 through 36, “0” through “00”. Eighteen of the numbers are red and 18 are black and “0” and “00” are green.
- The same numbers appear sequentially on the layout, which serves as the betting surface. Also included on the layout are spaces for betting red and black, odd and even and a variety of other number combinations.
- Players make wagers on one or more of the numbers and/or combinations. The dealer then spins the wheel in one direction. As the ball slows, it drops into one of the numbered compartments, thus indicating the winning number. The dealer then places a marker on the winning number on the layout. If the marked number is included in one of the player’s bets, he or she wins. If not, the player loses.
- A wager may be made in gaming chips or by specifically designed Roulette chips. If Roulette chips are used, a specific color will be assigned to the player to eliminate confusion. The value of the chip is determined by the amount the player paid for it.
- Payoffs on bets depend on how many possibilities are covered – the fewer the possibilities, the higher the payoff. After all bets have been taken or paid, new bets are made and the ball is spun again.
